The Travelers Rest, serving Traditional American cuisine with a few German dishes on the menu, is located at 25 Saw Mill River Rd. (Route 100) in the hamlet of Kitchawan in Ossining, NY 10536, Westchester County. From Traverlers Rest: "Welcome back to Travelers Rest, a Westchester landmark for over 100 years. Since 1961 the Langner family has been serving German specialty dishes and culinary creations of legendary proportions to our loyal clientele in a cozy, warm and elegant setting. Located in the hamlet of Kitchawan, considered to be part of Ossining, Millwood and Yorktown, the former inn was originally a stagecoach stop catering to weary travelers on Route 100, then a main thoroughfare.
Today the fine dining establishment is ushering in the 3rd generation of Langners, Brooke and Gary Jr, to assist their parents, Tina and Gary in continuing the legacy of fine dining created by Gerhardt and AnneLise Langner . Travelers Rest today pays homage to the traditions and delicacies of the past while catering to the nuanced tastes of today’s most discriminating diners with a combination of traditional German entrees including sauerbraten, weiner schnitzel, and jaeger schnitzel, all offered with Travelers Rest’s signature potato pancakes or AnneLise’s coveted recipe for spatzele, and today’s contemporary farm to table offerings.
