Gino's Trattoria Ristorante Italiano is located at 597 Route 6, Mahopac, NY 10541 in Putnam County.

From Gino's Trattoria: "The Barbaro family has been involved in the restaurant business for over 40 years. Vito Barbaro first immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1955. Upon his arrival, he began working at a small pizzeria in Brooklyn. In 1977, Vito opened his first restaurant, Pizza Beat, in Yonkers, New York. For over 20 years, Pizza Beat served nothing but the finest Southern Italian cuisine. In 1995, his wife Ivana along with their two sons, Gino and Mark, set off to Mahopac to open Gino’s Trattoria (formerly Tony’s Pizza). In 1997, Vito left Pizza Beat and joined the rest of his family to complete the 'Trattoria'.

"From broccoli rabe to Prosciutto di Parma, the key to the Gino’s success is the fresh and seasonal ingredients. The Trattoria is also known for its creative menu choices, such as the popular homemade focaccia sandwich. When you come to Gino’s you will be greeted by a warm and friendly staff. So, come and join us for a wonderful meal." Grazie and Buon Appetito

Gluten Free Meals
"Many of our customers are beginning to request gluten free meals. I have witnessed people’s sensitivity to wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats skyrocket over the past few years. It may be that we are more aware of the sensitivity and are being diagnosed properly by doctors.

"I feel that it is extremely important that we all limit our intake of wheat, especially bleached white flour, for a few reasons. It is difficult to digest, and for anyone who is “carbohydrate intolerant”, (ME) it will lead to weight gain and sluggish bowel movements.

"I am concerned that people choosing gluten free diets will think this a fool proof way to a healthy diet. You are still consuming carbs, and many of these products contain excessive amounts of sugar and processed ingredients. At the restaurant, we serve gluten free Brown Rice pasta as a substitute for wheat pasta. We also use gluten free flour for sautéing chicken and purchase gluten free pizza crusts for those yearning for a bite of pizza." Gino Barbaro
